For each site, it is beneficial to generate a sitemap. This will help search engines to more deeply crawl your site and put more pages into your index. A large number of pages in the index means that more pages fall into the search results.
Here are the recommendations for compiling a sitemap:
- A <priority> element is required.
- Does not contain any pages that are prohibited from indexing robots.txt.
- The protocol for the links in the sitemap and the site itself are the same. That is, if the site works on https, then the links in the file must be in the https protocol.
- The file size should not exceed 2 MB. If you have a lot of pages, then you need to split the sitemap into several files.
